Detroit to host Amplifiers’ first home game at Little Caesars Arena on July 20; tickets on sale April 11 at 10 AM

DETROIT, MI—The wait is over. The Detroit Amplifiers are officially set to make their long-awaited home debut this summer as part of BIG3’s newly unveiled Season 8 schedule. As one of eight all-new city-based teams in the league’s historic transition to a home-market model, the Amplifiers will take the court at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday, July 20, 2025, representing the heart and hustle of Detroit in front of their hometown fans.

Tickets for the Detroit matchup—and the league’s first four weeks—go on sale April 11 at 10 AM local time at BIG3.com/tickets.
“We’ve been building toward this moment for years, and now Detroit finally has its BIG3 team,” said George Gervin, Head Coach of the Detroit Amplifiers and NBA Hall of Famer. “This city lives and breathes basketball. The Amplifiers will represent Detroit with pride and give fans an exciting summer.”
The Amplifiers are part of BIG3’s “Summer in the City” tour, a 10-week season during which each of the new franchises hosts at least one home game. The cities include Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami.
“This is the most anticipated BIG3 season yet,” said BIG3 Co-CEO Ice Cube. “Not only are the players competing for the Dr. J trophy and a $1M win bonus. Beyond that, the play is harder, the players are tougher, and the league is more competitive than ever. Our fans have the chance to be part of history every week when each team makes its hometown debut. Everyone knows that the BIG3 isn’t just what is done on the court – when we come to town, you know there is music, culture, and community to be had. We can’t wait for our fans to meet their teams and experience another summer of the best 3-on-3 basketball starting June 14.”
This season brings added excitement, introducing a $1 million performance bonus awarded to the two teams that reach the BIG3 Championship. This marks the first time such a substantial prize has been added to regular-season player salaries.
The Detroit Amplifiers are owned and operated by GameAbove Sports, the sports investment group with ties to Detroit leading the charge in bringing BIG3 energy to the city and expanding basketball’s global footprint. The team’s full-player roster will be announced following the BIG3 Combine and Draft on May 15, 2025.
In addition to the action on the court, this season will also be documented in a forthcoming BIG3 documentary, capturing every twist, challenge, and triumph of Season 8—including the Amplifiers’ journey from launch to legacy.

About
BIG3
On January 11, 2017, the BIG3 was born. The first-ever professional FIREBALL3 league is the brainchild of producer, actor, and music legend Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, who shared a vision of a player-centric league focused on entertainment and innovation. The BIG3 is a league with no garbage minutes, where trash talk is allowed, defense is emphasized, fast-paced action, and where every point –whether it’s a 4-point or 3-point shot – counts. Any given BIG3 team has hall of famers, icons and trailblazers, and the next best 3-on-3 player.
The league has led the sports industry in diversity and opportunity, becoming the first professional sports league to implement a mental health policy, favor CBD as a pain management alternative to opioids, enlist female coaches of men, and appoint a black Commissioner in Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler, who is also professional sports first former player serving as Commissioner. The inaugural CEO was the legendary, incomparable Raider executive Amy Trask. This January 2024, BIG3 co-founder Ice Cube was honored at the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, where he received the inaugural Ice Cube Impact Award, acknowledging individuals making substantial contributions to their community, the first non-player to be recognized. Founders Ice Cube and Jeffrey Kwatinetz are missioned to better society as BIG3 pursues business success while also helping to break down stereotypes, promote diversity in sports, create opportunities for black, brown, and female athletes beyond the court, and support the black, youth and basketball communities overall.
